Steamed Cabbage Delight


Ingredients :

  • 600g Chinese celery cabbage
  • 120g shredded lean pork
  • 3 mushrooms
  • 1 small bamboo shoot
  • 2 slices ginger
  • 3 tablespoons green peas
  • (1) ½ teaspoon each of salt, corn flour and sesame oil
    pepper and monosodium glutamate (msg) to taste
  • (2) ½ tablespoon wine (Shao Shin)
    1 cup water
    pinch of salt, msg and pepper
    dash of sesame oil
  1. Separate leaves of cabbage, wash and scald briefly in hot water until soft. Let cool and set aside.
  2. Soak mushrooms until soft and shred finely. Shred bamboo shoot finely. Heat 2 tablespoons oil and sauce sliced ginger until brown. Discard ginger and sauté half of the shredded mushroom, lean pork and bamboo shoot. Add Seasoning (1), stir well and remove.
  3. Wrap portions of cooked ingredients in each cabbage leaf, into the shape of a ball. Fasten with toothpicks, arrange on a plate and steam for 40 minutes.
  4. Add liquid from steamed dish to Seasoning (2) and bring to a boil. Add in green peas and remaining shredded mushrooms. Thicken with a little corn flour solution. Pour over dish and serve.
