Papaya in Hot Gravy

300g half-ripe papaya
50g dried prawns
3 shallots
1 teaspoon shrimp paste
2 fresh red chilies
1/2 teaspoon pepper
salt to taste
Chicken flavoring (optional)
Preparation :
Skin papaya and cut into thin slices.
Clean, wash and drain dried prawns.
Slit chilies and remove seeds.
Pound shallots finely.
Method :
Into 31/2 rice bowls of water, add pounded shallots, 1 teaspoon shrimp paste, 1/2 teaspoon pepper, dried prawns, salt to taste and chicken flavoring (optional).
Bring to boil. Then add cut papaya, chilies. Reduce heat to medium.
Boil till papaya becomes soft. Remove from heat and serve.
