Beef, Cauliflower and Mushroom Stir-fry


Serves 4

Ingredients

  • 225g steak, sliced into 5 cm strips
  • ¼ cauliflower, divided into florets
  • ½ cup water or stock
  • 200g fresh whole button mushrooms
  • 1½ teaspoons cornflour
  • 2 tablespoons fish sauce
  • 1 teaspoon oyster sauce
  • Ground black pepper
  • Vegetable oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 medium onion, cut lengthwise into 8 pieces

To Garnish

  • Coriander sprigs
 

Method for Cooking Beef, Cauliflower and Mushroom Stir-fry:

  1. Cut cauliflower florets in half. Mix water and mushroom liquid with cornflour, 1 tablespoon fish sauce and oyster sauce.

  2. Pour 1 tablespoon of fish sauce over sliced meat and sprinkle pepper over. Turn meat and let stand 20 minutes.

  3. In a pan, heat oil over high heat. Add garlic and onion and stir-fry until onion separates and softens. Add cauliflower and mushrooms. Cover, reduce heat and cook for 4 minutes. Add meat and cook until meat is cooked to your liking. Stir in cornflour mixture. Continue stirring until sauce thickens. Spoon onto a serving plate and garnish with coriander sprigs.
