We Have a Problem.


This IS as bad as it looks

We must, without concession or falter develop the habits for healthy eating. The information to develop a healthy diet plan nowadays is absurdly abundant and easy to find. To choose which advice or piece of information to follow within a sea of often contradicting information, however, is remarkably harder. But even if the information was streamlined and easier to obtain, even if we could develop a consistent and reliable way to forward health information, the majority of the people would still not carry a healthy eating plan .

Have you ever asked around your family and friends about what they thought quality food meant? If I told you that most people answered that question with things about the fanciest caviar or thoughts about delicious salmon and cheese lunches in tidy little hampers you will probably think that I am pulling your leg. If I told you that a lot of people talked about delicious chocolate, multicolored candy bars and even hot and juicy BBQ hamburgers you'd accuse me of lying.

The sad fact is that I am not.

Healthy eating is not about strict and baroque nutrition philosophies that pretend to deprive you from having a delicious meal. It's not about being unrealistically thin, or athletic or to become an olympic gold winner. It is about feeling great and energized and keeping yourself as healthy as possible to enjoy life to the fullest. All of this can be achieved by spending a moderate amount of time learning some nutrition basics and working them into your daily life.

Be Flexible and Get Ready

There is no cookie cutter guide to a more healthy eating, because for it to be effective you will have to take the time to taylor any advice to your particular lifestyle and your particular tastes (did you think you would have to eat food you didn't like?) The basic idea is to choose the types of food that will improve your health while avoiding those foods that can raise your risk of having an illness such as heart disease, cancer and diabetes. As you continue to learn, the range of healthy food choices you'll be exposed to will increase and you will be able to include a wide variety of delicious food in your diet.

Boundaries. This is a word you should start getting used to right now. Healthy eating is not about depriving yourself of pleasure but about putting your eating habits in perspective and ensure you are healthy to actually enjoy life (food included.) You need to eat enough, but not too much and you will find that nervousness, anxiety and fear are the real enemies and not your supposed huge appetite. Remember, your body can do just fine with healthy eating... actually it will do better than you ever imagined. The only thing standing between you and a healthy life is the barrier of conscious choice.

The change is possible right now. You don't have to wait until next week, tomorrow or even the next meal to be on your way to a healthier living. Are you ready?
